Turkey’s production of domestic appliances up by 17 pct

Turkey’s domestic appliances industry increased its production by 17 percent in 2021, despite worldwide supply chain bottlenecks and increases in the prices of raw materials. According to data provided by the Turkish Association of Domestic Appliance Industrialists (TÜRKBESD) 34.4 million of pieces of domestic appliances (under 6 main product categories) were sold in 2021, and while 25.9 million pieces were exported, domestic sales amounted to 8.5 million pieces. The association, which represents major international and local brands such as Arçelik, Arzum, BSH, Dyson, Electrolux, Haier Europe, Miele, SEB, Silverline and Vestel, informs that the industry is planning new investments of around 480 million dollars during 2022 focusing on areas like expansion of manufacturing facilities, capacity improvement, renewal of machinery, R&D, digital transformation and technological innovation, energy efficiency and green transition. These investments will help to consolidate Turkey’s position as a major global manufacturing hub for domestic appliances.
